Perfume: Leyla
Leyla Celebi is sure of herself until she isn’t. Magenta and cinnabar are her favorite colors. In her words, “They are both variations of red—magenta being more purple and cinnabar being more orange. Red symbolizes unity with God, and departing worldly life for spiritual life. Magenta is the sunrise and cinnabar is the sunset, my two favorite times of the day.” Her signature perfume is a spicey variation of her previous favorite perfume that is unfortunately out of production. Early in our introduction to Leyla she has an experience with a kind compliment on her perfume choice.
“I hope this doesn’t sound weird or anything, but that is a nice perfume you are wearing,” attempting to start up a conversation again.
“Thank you, Mr. Allen. It’s Quelque Fleur by Hubigant. They don’t make it anymore and I don’t know why. I get more compliments when I wear it than any other perfume,” Leyla replied.
After the experiences in Kitab Kabbani, Leyla is less enamored by the tame aromas of her past. Her signature scent has a magenta tonka bean and galbanum base note, a spicey cinnamon and ginger heart note, and a cinnabar and antirrhinum top note. If you are preparing to take on the world on your own terms, this may be the scent for you.
